One morning in my late fifties, I brushed my hair and watched it snap mid-strand. The shine I had taken for granted for decades was gone. My ends felt like straw, my scalp itched constantly, and the same products I had used since my forties suddenly stopped working. If that sounds familiar, you are far … Read more
I’ve spent the last three months refreshing my curls every single morning, and I have strong opinions about which products actually deliver. Second-day curls can go from flat and frizzy to bouncy and defined in under two minutes if you have the right mist in your bathroom cabinet. Our team at Mercer Street Salon put … Read more
Bleaching your hair blonde is one of the most exciting transformations you can make, but it comes with a price. The bleach process lifts your natural pigment by breaking down the protein structure of each strand. That leaves hair porous, brittle, and desperate for moisture and structural repair. Wavy hair sits in that frustrating middle ground. Not straight enough to lay flat, not curly enough to form defined spirals. Instead, you get S-shaped waves that frizz up the moment humidity hits. I have spent years testing products on my own type 2B waves, and I can tell you that the best hair products … Read more
Coarse frizzy hair has a mind of its own. I have spent more mornings than I care to admit fighting a halo of puff that laughs at every brush stroke, and I know I am not alone. If your strands feel like rope, soak up product like a sponge, and rebel the second the humidity … Read more
I live in Houston, where July humidity regularly tops 90 percent, and I have a head full of 2B waves that turn into a triangle of fluff the moment I step outside. After two summers of trial and error, my team and I tested the best anti-frizz products for wavy hair in humidity against each … Read more
